HOW YOU CAN HELP

How YOU can Help the Gabby Jack Ranch

There are many ways that you can help the Gabby Jack Ranch in our program. Volunteers are needed in every aspect of the organization. If you have good management skills, please consider a volunteer position on our Board of Directors or by serving in an advisory capacity. Perhaps you could organize a committee or help with grant writing, plan an event or organize other volunteers. Our need is great and our work is rewarding.

If you love raising dogs and you have always wanted a Labradoodle, Goldendoodle, or Poodle how about volunteering as a Guardian or Breeder Caretaker? We need people to pet puppies and to walk dogs, we need people who will help to socialize our puppies and dogs. We need groomers, veterinary technicians and veterinarians.

The Gabby Jack Ranch is looking for very special people who will help us raise puppies and train them to work with our disabled clients. This is a loving gift that you can offer to someone in your community with special needs. Since the client will be in your community, you will have access to the puppy even when (s)he is placed with the client. Special bonds are common.

We could use volunteers to help us build our kennel facility, people with skills in plumbing, electrical work, heating and air conditioning. We need builders and fence installers and landscape help who want to creatively develop a wonderful playground for the dogs and puppies!

If you have time to spare, we would welcome your services.

Guardian and Breeder Caretaker Homes

Our Guardians are loving dog owners who want to care for one of our male breeding dogs. You would raise the dog as your own and keep him for our breeding needs. After 5 years, he will be neutered and retired and you will retain full legal ownership of him. Breeder Caretaker homes are very special indeed; these are people who take a female breeding dog and care for her while she is pregnant and when she delivers her puppies. You would raise the puppies until they are 8-12 weeks of age and then the puppies would be placed with our clients. After your girl produced 3 litters, she would be spayed and you would obtain full legal ownership of her.

We provide breeding related expenses, but you would be responsible for the daily expenses, including routine veterinary care, food, toys, training, grooming, etc.

 Puppy Raisers

A puppy raiser is someone who will work with the Gabby Jack Ranch training program and take an 8 week old puppy, training the puppy to become a good citizen. You would have the special gift of getting to know the client and helping the client bond to their new puppy. You would arrange to have the client and puppy spend time together on a regular basis in order to build a strong personal bond between them. You would facilitate training with the client. Then, after the puppy is placed, we would encourage you to visit the puppy and to make yourself available for respite visits or special training challenges.

 Board of Directors

We have openings on the Board of Directors for the Gabby Jack Ranch and we invite interested people to contact us with ideas and information that might help us to find a good fit in our organization. Your involvement might be as limited as serving on a committee or as demanding as becoming a full time director. We want people with time, energy, ideas and commitment to visit with us. Let’s see what we can do! Together we can help many.

  Local Volunteers

People living in or around Penn Valley, California, are invited to help us with our daily routines of playing with dogs, socializing dogs, cuddling puppies, we could even use people who would like to bake dog treats or cook up batches of dog food for us! If you like to brush dogs, if you are good at clipping their nails or cleaning their ears or just playing ball. We would love to hear from you!

We have older dogs that need some special training in order to prepare them for a forever home. These dogs are very loving and sweet but they need someone with a lot of patience and understanding to teach them that the world is a pretty interesting place! Who knows, perhaps the dog you work with could be placed in your own home!

Donations

The Gabby Jack Ranch is always happy to receive monetary donations. It costs a lot to feed and care for our adult breeding dogs. You can help with your contributions.

In addition to financial help, we are always happy to receive donated supplies and materials to help us make the dogs lives more comfortable and interesting.

Thanks for your interest and your support! Please send a note to us on the contact menu and we will respond right away.
